Online shopping is already part of our daily lives, and pickup points have become essential for the challenges facing logistics and e-commerce.
At InPost, we are leading this change, making online shopping easier and providing new possibilities for all businesses with flexible, secure and sustainable shipping solutions that make life easier and are good for the planet.
The use of pickup points in Spain
Pickup points are increasingly used in Spain because they provide convenience and flexibility. According to a study conducted by Telling Insights, more than half, 53% of the urban population, uses these points to collect or return packages, especially consumers aged 25 to 45.
Likewise, 62% of users prefer pickup points to return packages, and 36% use them to receive their online purchases. This preference underscores the vital role they play in e-commerce logistics, facilitating fast and efficient return processes.
But the trend goes beyond that, 20% of online shoppers shows growing interest in consumer-to-consumer (C2C) shipping, pointing to growth in online shopping on platforms such as Vinted or Wallapop and the need for new, more economical, flexible and sustainable shipping methods to pickup points.
The market: Are there enough pickup points in Spain?
38% of users consider that the number of pickup points currently available in Spain is sufficient, but there is a 26% that still sees the need to increase these options, especially in medium-sized cities. This data indicates both the acceptance of this type of shipping service to pickup points and plenty of room to expand locations to meet consumer expectations.
Which pickup point does the consumer prefer?
According to the same Telling Insights study, when it comes to choosing a pickup point, proximity is the first factor taken into account, users usually choose those points near their home or work. And the second factor for choosing a pickup point is flexibility, the user prefers options that fit their schedule, such as smart lockers available 24/7 or extended business hours, which simplify pickup and shipping.
