Shipments at Christmastime

Dec 5, 2022

Christmas is approaching and with it comes buying gifts for ourselves, our family members, and our friends, so dozens of packages arrive at our home, often creating one problem or another when they don't arrive on time.

Tips for shopping online at Christmas

During the holidays, purchases multiply exponentially. Everyone turns to online stores, leaving some of them until the last minute, with the risk that this entails.

The main tip when buying online during Christmas is to bring purchases forward by at least a week, better two if possible, since this way we make sure the products arrive on time.

Throughout this period, delivery times may increase, since courier companies are usually overwhelmed, there are traffic jams in cities, and stores do not always properly manage available stock. For this reason, we recommend that you do not wait until the last few days and start thinking about what you are going to give to those special people.

As usual, Christmas for shipments does not end on the 6th, and during the month of January there will still be a high volume of shipments due to returns, normally because the size is not right. At InPost, we make the return process easier in your most frequently used stores, such as Vinted, Zara or Shein, putting our Punto Pack | Locker network at your disposal.

How to send packages to family and friends at Christmas

At Christmas, not only does the number of purchases we make in online stores increase, but it is also a time when we tend to send a greater volume of packages. For example, when we send a gift to relatives who are far away or friends we have not seen for a long time because they live in another city.

Due to the very nature of Christmas, which often means we are not at home to receive packages (because we are at Christmas dinners, doing shopping, etc.), the most convenient option becomes delivery to pickup points. And not only to receive orders from online stores, but also to send those packages to friends and family who will very likely not be at home either, so they can collect their package whenever it suits them best.

It is important to keep in mind that at this time of year, shipment volumes increase enormously, so you need to plan ahead and try to send packages as early as possible to avoid delays. Nobody wants to be unable to give any gift on December 25 or January 6 because it was ordered at the last minute.

This Christmas, choose delivery to pickup points

At InPost, we work for and support delivery to pickup points. It is a very simple process, since once you have decided to send a package to your relative or friend, all you have to do is go to our website, enter the dimensions and weight of the shipment, and print the label we provide.

With that label already on the package, you can go to a Punto Pack | Locker. The former are neighborhood shops near your home, and the latter are lockers located in areas you are sure to pass through normally, some of them open 24/7 if they are outdoors.

You just have to leave the package at one of these points and we will take it to the one you chose because it is closer to the person who will pick it up, who can collect it without having to wait for the parcel company to arrive.

If you have sent it to an outdoor Locker, the person can go pick it up at any time of day and any day of the week, thus adapting the delivery time to the user and not the other way around.

We have 7,000 Punto Pack | Locker in Spain, making us the best way for the packages sent during the Christmas holidays to reach their destinations on time. Choose InPost during this time of year and… Merry Christmas!
