InPost shipping statuses: what each tracking message means

Aug 29, 2025

You’ve placed an order in an online store, you receive the SMS or email with the tracking number and… a series of messages appears. In transit? Ready for delivery? Tick tock?

In this article we explain what each InPost shipping tracking status means, so you know at all times where your package is and what to expect.

What is InPost shipping tracking for?

The InPost shipping tracking lets you know at what point in the logistics process your package is. From the moment the label is generated until you have it in your hands (or pick it up at an InPost point), every step is recorded.

And what do you get from this?

  • Peace of mind: you know the package is moving.
  • Control: you can anticipate when it will arrive.
  • Reaction: if there’s any problem, you find out right away.

With the tracking number and your postal code you can check it on our InPost website. In addition, you will receive email or SMS notifications with important changes.

Key InPost shipping tracking statuses

Let’s get straight to it. These are the messages you may see and what they mean:

Prepared by the sender

The sender has generated the label and is preparing the package. It hasn’t left yet. If you see this for a while, don’t worry: it’s normal for it to take a few hours to move to the next status.

Collected by InPost

The package is now in InPost’s hands. We have picked it up and it is entering our logistics network. From here on, everything runs smoothly.

In transit

Your package is moving between logistics centers. It may be traveling between cities or even crossing borders if it is an international shipment. This status may last more or less depending on the distance.

Arrival at the local delivery center

The package has already arrived at the center closest to your destination. It is about to go out for delivery or be placed in an InPost point.

Placed in the Locker or Punto Pack

Good news! You can already go and pick it up. If you chose a Locker or Punto Pack, the package is already waiting for you. You will receive an SMS or email with the opening code. You have up to 8 days to collect it.

Last notice: time is running out to collect it

You have a few days to collect it. This notice reminds you that time is passing and that, if you don’t collect it, the package will be returned to the sender.

Return in progress

The collection period has passed or it could not be delivered. The package is returning to the point of origin. If you see this status, contact us if you need to reschedule anything.

Delivered

The package has been delivered or collected. End of the journey!

Where can you see all these statuses?

You have several options to check InPost shipping tracking:

  • InPost website: enter your tracking number and postal code and you’re done.
  • Email or SMS: you will receive automatic alerts with key changes.
  • Customer support: if you see any issue, you can contact us from the website.

And what if a strange status appears or it gets stuck?

Sometimes tracking may take time to update, especially on weekends or holidays. If more than 48 hours pass without changes, or a status appears that you don’t understand, we recommend:

  • Checking whether you have received any additional SMS.
  • Confirming that the tracking number is correct.
  • Contacting our team to review your case.

Quick tips to better understand your tracking

  • If the package seems “stuck,” give it a little time: it may be in a long transit.
  • If you see “last notice,” go to the InPost point as soon as possible.
  • Keep the tracking number until you receive the package.
  • If you can’t collect it yourself, you can share the code with someone you trust.
