How long does an InPost shipment take and on what days are packages delivered

May 6, 2026

When you send or wait for a package, there is one question that almost always comes up: “When will it arrive?” With InPost, delivery times can vary depending on the origin, destination, the type of pickup point chosen, the drop-off date, and any incidents during transport. In this guide, we explain the approximate delivery times, what each stage of the tracking means, and what you can do if your package takes longer than expected.

Quick summary

At InPost, domestic shipments have an average delivery time of 3 business days from when the package is dropped off at a Punto Pack or Locker. For international shipments to European countries, the average time is usually 3 to 6 business days, depending on the destination.

When the package arrives at the selected Punto Pack or Locker, we notify the recipient by email, SMS or App. From that moment on, the package remains available for 8 calendar days for domestic shipments. After that period, it may be returned to the sender.

To know the actual status of the shipment, the most practical thing is to check the tracking with the shipment number. That way you can see whether the package is in transit, has already arrived at the pickup point, or is awaiting some step.

What do you need to check your shipment delivery time?

  1. Package tracking number and postal code.
  2. Email address or SMS associated with the shipment.
  3. Access to InPost's tracking tool.
  4. InPost Iberia App, if you prefer to check it from your mobile phone.
  5. Approximate date when the shipment was dropped off or created.

How long does an InPost shipment take?

Delivery time depends on the package route. A shipment within Spain does not have the same timeframe as an international one, and the time when the package is dropped off at the Punto Pack or Locker can also have an effect.

As a general reference, in InPost our domestic shipments have an average delivery time of 3 business days from when the package is dropped off at a Punto Pack or Locker. For international shipments to European countries, the average time is usually 3 to 6 business days, depending on the destination.

To know the actual status of your package, we recommend checking the with your shipment number. There you can see whether the package has already been dropped off, whether it is in transit, whether it has arrived at the pickup point, or whether there is any status worth reviewing. You can also check the status of your package in the InPost App.

On what days are packages delivered with InPost?

Logistics movements are mainly organized on business days. This means that weekends, national holidays, local holidays, or periods of high demand can affect the final delivery time.

In addition, it is necessary to distinguish between the transport of the package and the opening hours of the point where it is collected. A Locker may be available every day if it is located in an open-access area, whereas a Punto Pack depends on the opening hours of the store where it is located.

Why your shipment may take a little longer

If a package takes longer than expected, it does not necessarily mean there is a serious problem. Sometimes the reason is quite ordinary: a holiday, a full point, a relocation, transport conditions, or a surge in orders.

  • The package was dropped off outside the day's collection window.
  • There are holidays or weekends in between.
  • The destination point is full or temporarily unavailable.
  • The shipment requires relocation to another nearby point.
  • There is a higher volume of packages during campaigns such as sales, Black Friday, or Christmas.
  • The shipment data needs to be checked.

What do the most common shipment statuses mean?

  1. Preparing: The shipment has been created, but it may not have been dropped off or picked up by InPost yet. It is the starting point.
  2. In transit: The package is already on its way to its destination. It may pass through several hubs before reaching the selected Punto Pack or Locker.
  3. Available for pickup: Good news: the package is already at the pickup point. Check the PIN, QR, or instructions received to collect it within the indicated time frame.
  4. Relocated or redirected to another point: This can happen if the chosen point is full, closed, or cannot receive the package. In that case, InPost usually informs you of the new assigned point.
  5. Returned to sender: This status may appear if the package is not collected within the available period or if an incident occurs that prevents delivery from being completed.

How to track your InPost shipment step by step?

  1. Find your tracking number in the email, SMS, or shipment receipt and know the destination postal code.
  2. Go to InPost's tracking tool or open the App.
  3. Enter the tracking number exactly as it appears.
  4. Check the latest status and update date.
  5. Check whether there are any additional instructions to pick up, change, or resolve an incident.

What should you do if your package takes longer than expected?

First check the tracking. If the package was updated recently, it is most likely still on its way.

It is also worth checking your email and SMS in case InPost has sent you a notification about relocation, availability at the pickup point, or an incident.

If it has been several days without changes or a status appears that you do not understand, gather the tracking number and fill out our customer service form.
