How InPost works: steps to send, track, and collect a package

Apr 6, 2026

You’ve sent a parcel, or you’re about to, and you want to understand how InPost works, what the steps are, and where you can check the status of your parcel. In this guide, we explain how it works, depending on your case, so you can send, track, and collect your parcel without complications.

Quick summary

InPost works with a hybrid network of Punto Pack (partner local shops) and Lockers (smart lockers) for sending and collecting parcels. The process is simple: you send the parcel, keep your tracking number, check the status from the tracking tool or the InPost Iberia App, and collect or drop off the parcel at the chosen location.

What do you need before you start?

  • Shipment details: sender and recipient
  • Access to the email address or SMS associated with the shipment
  • Tracking number
  • InPost Iberia App (optional)

What should you do depending on your case?

  • If you want to send a parcel: prepare the parcel, send it and drop the parcel off at the InPost point you choose.
  • If you want to know where your parcel is: check the tracking with your shipment number.
  • If you want to collect a parcel: wait for the “ready for collection” notice and follow the instructions depending on whether it is a Punto Pack or Locker.

What are the steps for InPost?

InPost lets you send and receive parcels using nearby pickup points:

  • Punto Pack: partner shops where you drop off or collect the parcel at the counter.
  • Locker: smart lockers where you drop off or collect the parcel yourself from the screen, using a PIN or QR when applicable.

The key to keeping everything running smoothly is always the same: keep the tracking number and check the shipment status whenever you have doubts.

To send a parcel

  1. Prepare the parcel and pack it well. If there is space inside the parcel, add filler so the contents do not move around.
  2. Send the parcel and keep the tracking number. You’ll receive it by email or SMS, or you’ll see it in the App if you have it linked.
  3. Drop the parcel off at the Punto Pack or Locker you chose.
  4. Check the shipment tracking to see how it is progressing.

To track a shipment

  1. Have your tracking number to hand.
  2. Go to our tracking tool or the InPost Iberia App.
  3. Check the status and the latest movement of the shipment.

To collect a parcel

  1. Wait for the “ready for collection” notice.
  2. Check whether your parcel is at a Punto Pack or in a Locker. Follow the instructions:
  • At Punto Pack: they hand it to you at the counter.
  • In Locker: you collect it on the screen with the PIN or QR.

Common errors

  • “I can’t find the tracking”: it is usually in the shipment email or SMS, or in the App if you have it linked.
  • “I don’t know if it is Punto Pack or Locker”: the tracking will indicate the exact point.
  • “The shipment is not moving”: sometimes it updates in batches; check the latest movement and try again later.

What to do if this doesn’t work?

  • You can’t find the tracking number: check the email, SMS, and App notifications.
  • The tracking is not updating: check the date of the latest movement and try again later.
  • You don’t know where to pick it up: go into the tracking and confirm the assigned point.

Contact us only if…

  • You cannot locate the tracking number after checking email, SMS, and the App.
  • The tracking shows an incident and you are not clear on the next step.
  • The shipment appears as available, but you cannot collect it by following the process.

If it still hasn’t been resolved, fill in our form with the tracking number and tell us about your case.
