Your return home from Erasmus without leaving anything behind

You made the decision to venture out to live and study in another country, congratulations! We know you had an amazing time, and we also know that packing for your Erasmus experience was quite a challenge. Now it's time to go back home with lots of memories and, above all, a little more luggage. Most importantly: remember not to leave anything behind! With a bit of planning (and a large suitcase) you'll be able to take all your things with you without giving up anything.

How do you pack your suitcase to come back from Erasmus?

Here are some tips to organize your luggage like a true professional:

Make a list of the things you need to take back

Make sure to include everything you brought with you at the time and what you really need, being aware that you now have more luggage and a lot more memories. But be careful, also think that this might be the time to recycle a garment or two that you have damaged or no longer want to keep.

We recommend that you do a good cleanup and make a list of things you definitely want to take back with you.

Choose a suitable suitcase for your needs

Look for a suitcase with wheels to make it easier to move, and with enough capacity to carry everything you need, but that is not too large or heavy. Remember that if you are traveling by plane, you'll have to comply with the airline's luggage regulations. Take a look at the luggage conditions first of all. And remember to check the maximum allowed weight and the suitcase dimensions to avoid having to pay extra.

Forget folding, rolling is better

A tip we really like to give: roll up your clothes, this makes the fibers compact and will help you optimize the available space.

Organize your things in the suitcase

It's important to place the heaviest things at the bottom of the suitcase and the lightest things at the top. Use bags or organizers to keep your things tidy and prevent them from moving around too much. 

Use all available spaces

The inside of shoes, the corners of the suitcase, and the space between items are ideal for placing small items like socks and other underwear. With this small gesture you'll be able to save that space you need to take that sweater you weren't sure would fit. 

How many suitcases is it recommended to take?

We can't give you an exact answer here. It will mainly depend on how many things you want to take back with you. And, above all, how much you can bring with you on the airline you've chosen, although the minimum is usually a suitcase, travel bag, and handbag.
